Hot Tub Replacement Covers

  • Post category:Health

It is important that you choose spa and hot tub covers that will be a good fit. These covers come in different sizes, shapes and designs hence the need of choosing carefully to find those that perfectly fit your spa and hot tub. Most of these covers come in a square shape but it is also possible to find some in rectangular and oval shapes. The following are things that you should consider when choosing these covers.

Lip size
These measurements are always given in three dimensions which is the size of length, breath and height of cover lip. The lip is the part that stretches over the edges of the tub to securely keep in place. Although the lip size is not critical, a larger lip will make your cover more secure.

Spa cover thickness
The thickness determines how well the cover will provide insulation and heat retention. The thickness is an important consideration since most of hate loss in spas is attributed to evaporation. Thicker covers will thus offer more heat retention than thicker ones. The market offers different thicknesses ranging from less than 1 inch up to 4 inches. However, it is not automatic that the thickest cover is the strongest.

Slope and straps
Some hot tub replacement covers will come with own securing straps while others do not. It is important to buy covers which are elasticized especially if you live in a windy area.  Most covers in the market are flat, but if you live in a rain prone area, it would only be prudent to purchase a rigid one with a good slope. This slope will be very instrumental in directing rainwater towards the edges.

While choosing spa and hot tub covers make sure you make the correct choice. Insulation and strength are the two most important considerations that should be made. Other factors that are o0f importance are the lip size, mechanical lift, slope and the cover thickness.
